What was the Lightbulb Moment that inspired you to fully dive into what you do?
I am fortunate to have grown up with a passion for and desire to write. I may have wavered along the way, but my love for words persists! The moment that really pushed me in that direction was right before I went to college. A family friend asked me why I was planning on majoring in Business instead of English/Writing against my own desires. I've never looked back.
What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve learned in your current career?
Talent, natural affinity — whatever you want to call it — means very little. It's all about the work. That's where the truly groundbreaking stuff happens.
What often sparks your creativity or gets you into the creative zone?
Music is my favorite way to zone in. I go between smooth jazz, soul, R&B, and sometimes you gotta boss up with the ladies of hip hop! They're killing the game just like I'm always trying to be.
What is your unfiltered advice for anyone looking to break into your industry?
"If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it. Anything you want to, do it. Want to change the world, there's nothing to it." That's a line from Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory — one of my favorites. Sometimes when things feel so out of reach, so difficult, so ~mysterious~, you just have to simplify it. Just do it. You can get into the details later, but for now, just do it.
